Our history

GVB’s history begins with the realization that problems such as artifacts, false signals and stray signals in electroencephalography mostly occur on the electrode side and not on the device side.

GVB is founded (1994)
Initially, only pastes and gels were sold until contact was established with the Italian company Meditec in Parma, which expanded the product range to include electrodes and connection cables. In 1994, the company GVB was founded and GVB and geliMED merged to form today's GVB-geliMED GmbH.

GVB becomes a manufacturer (1999)
Sales figures increased very quickly, so that in 1999 the idea arose of starting our own production for some products. This project was put into practice and together with Francesco Lisi, the former owner of Meditec, and other partners, the company SPES Medica was founded in Genoa.

Expansion of the GVB product range (1999)
Some products became the complete range of neurophysiological consumables developed and produced. Today, the sales portfolio comprises around 1000 products in various designs and configurations. This means that GVB-geliMED has around 7000-8000 items. This year, GVB-geliMED Ltd. was certified according to ISO:13845 for the first time.

GVB expands its office and warehouse space (2002)
The company GVB-geliMED grew, so that both the office and warehouse space had to be expanded, so that the company moved from Negernbötel to Bad Segeberg in 2002. 2 years later, Michael Romin decided to expand and distribute the products internationally.

Foundation of GVB Holding (2007)
As the cooperation partners had previously mainly dealt with appliance technology, the sales figures for accessories were relatively low. To change this, GVB and SPES decided to found GVB-SPES Holding GmbH in 2007 in order to intensify the sale of accessories internationally through their own subsidiaries. This led to the establishment of GVB-SPES GmbH locations in Spain, England, Poland, Benelux, South Africa, Brazil, France, China, USA, etc.

GVB & Schröter Haube (2008)
GVB has taken over the production of what is probably the best-known product in the portfolio, the Schröter hood.

GVB enters the field of intraoperative monitoring (2010)
GVB entered the field of intraoperative monitoring in 2010 with the production of stimulation probes and the distribution of products from PMT CORPORATION and NERVEÄNA. Since then, the portfolio has grown so that GVB can now offer products such as strip electrodes, urethra electrodes, D-wave electrodes, laryngeal electrodes and various stimulation probes. Products such as TECH DOTs, conductive pastes, skin preparation pastes, DTL electrodes, gold foil electrodes and much more have also been developed in the conventional area.

RoHS guidelines and sustainability (2013)
In 2013, GVB as a company adapted to the RoHS regulations (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances) and demonstrated compliance with them, as well as the company's environmentally conscious focus on waste avoidance and the use of environmentally friendly packaging.

Office and warehouse expansion (2014)
Another move took place in 2014, GVB had to expand its premises again and purchased a new company building with more than 700 m² of office and warehouse space.

GVB digitizes warehousing (2015)
In 2015, the EAN 128 barcode and the UDI code were introduced as well as electronic (barcode)-supported warehouse, packaging and shipping management (chaotic warehouse management). This has reduced the error rate in shipping and packaging to zero. This step into the future, together with the newly introduced paperless order and transaction processing and archiving, has led to better and faster processing of orders and inquiries.

GVB moves to the new premises (2019)
Another move took place in 2019. Until then, the office and warehouse had different locations, which have now been merged. Since then, the GVB and all its premises have been located at Ginsterweg 7/7a in Bad Segeberg.
